Raised on the shores of the North Puget Sound, John Moilanen, is a third generation Northwest artist and entrepreneur. Having studied at the University of Washington, John continues to push the elements of design and application related with glass and metals.
Designing glass applications for more than twenty years, John Moilanen, has revived the ancient art of combining glass and metal. The individually, hand-cut copper, brass, steel, and aluminum pieces are fused between layers of glass to form functional pieces of art. The 1500-degree kiln turns the metals into unique, fiery images. The result of the eighteen-hour heating and cooling cycle is a durable, yet beautiful, piece of glass art. Combined with custom iron stands created from within his steel shop, these multi-media pieces of art are sure to impress and bring joy to the collector.
